2023 Monthly Challenge - April
The theme for April is when it rains... Let's dig in to how we can deal with the metaphorical "rain" and keep writing.
Feel free to follow along in the 2023 Plan Your Writing Year Workbook. You can get your copy here.
The challenge
Dealing with obstacles can be hard, and they say that when it rains, it pours. But don't lose heart. Obstacles are a part of everyone's journey, and writers have their own set of challenges.
Whether it's not knowing what to write, losing momentum, facing writer's block, or a fear of failure, these obstacles can be surpassed. All you have to do is keep typing. Yes, like Dory.
Just like the rain eventually has to stop, so do these challenges. They will come to an end, and inspiration will hit you once again. Keep the faith and keep typing, knowing that "the hard is what makes it great.”
Some prompts for this month's challenge (should you choose to accept it):
What are your biggest challenges as a writer? Make a list or post about it.
What's your favorite part of the writing process?
Where do you tend to struggle the most?
Do you find that it's better to take a break from writing or to muddle through it until the challenge passes?
What helps you get past those obstacles?
Brainstorm some creative ways you can try to get past things like imposter syndrome or writer's block. The more creative, the better (within healthy reason, of course).
What support system do you have in place to help you when you face challenges – such as a mentor, coach, or writing group?
